Laurens County SC Genealogy

 is the Manson of the Governor, and the Octagon House. 
Laurens County was established in 1785 as part of the Ninety Six 
District.  It was named for Revolutionary War  leader Henry Laurens 
(1724-1792).  Settlers were Scotch-Irish and English immigrants who came
 in the early eighteenth  century.  When Revolutionary War battles such 
as the battle of Musgroves Mill on August 18 of 1780 were fought in the 
 county,  it was discovered that many of its residents were loyalists.

 Chester County, SC Probate RecordsSite of the Battle of Fishing Creek 
during the Revolutionary War. Chester County and its county seat, the 
town of Chester, were named for Chester County, Pennsylvania. The county
 was formed in 1785 as part of the larger Camden District but was later 
transferred to Pinckney District (1791-1800); it became a separate 
district in 1800. Scotch-Irish settlers from Pennsylvania and Virginia
