If you have ever visited the South Caroline Archives and search for microfilm of deed records, the place to find them is under "Equity Records". The earlier the record, the less detailed the land description. You get words like "oak" "pine" "chains" "vacant on certain sides. As time goes by and the area is more settled, names of neighboring farms are listed, and of course, in modern day you get the exact deed book, page number, district and land lot number. Regardless of the description in the deeds, however, you can compare these with tax records from one year to the next to learn what ultimately happened to the property or now it passed on.
